Spark Rotation, Jesus Feeds 5000 Leader Guide

Spark Rotation Leader Guides focus on a single Bible story and include 8 workshop rotation options. Kids explore each Bible story for more than one week in order to experience the Bible story from different perspectives.

The workshop rotation options for Kindergarten - Grade 6 include: Art, Bible Skills and Games, Computer Lab, Cooking, Creative Drama, Music, Science, and Video.

Preschoolers experience an in-room rotation with Storytelling, Art, Snack, Music, and Game stations.

Spark Rotation also includes an "All Kids" option, making it easy for smaller congregations or congregations who prefer a multi-age Sunday school program format.

Jesus Feeds 5,000
John 6:1-14

Story Overview:

All four Gospels contain the story of the miracle of Jesus feeding thousands.  Each Gospel has different emphases and details, but the basic storyline is the same:  There is a large crowd of people following Jesus. When it is time for lunch, they are hungry, but the only food to be found is a few loaves of bread and a couple of fish.  In Jesus’ hands, that small lunch is plenty for thousands! 

John’s Gospel is the only one that mentions that the loaves and fishes came from a child. And only in John’s Gospel does this story take place at the time of the Passover.  This detail can remind us of God providing for the Israelites as they wandered in the wilderness after they escaped from Egypt. After leading the people through the Red Sea, God provided food – manna – for the people.  There was enough for everyone, but none that could be hoarded or saved.

Through Jesus, God multiplies a few fish and loaves of bread to feed all the people on the mountain and there are LEFTOVERS!  There is more than enough.
