This piece welcomes people of God into the mystery of faith by reflecting on the seasons of the church year. With Ecclesiastes' "There is a time for every season" as the central theme, the verses consider the meaning of each liturgical season. At the same time, the song uses the church calendar as a metaphor for moments of life. We accept the human/divine experience of joy and sorrow, waiting and celebrating, death and new life, just as we are partners with Christ's own life and ministry. The final Pentecost verse offers the grace/challenge that every gift of God among the seasons contains a calling to live out our faith authentically in the world.
