Jayne Southwick Cool writes wonderful music for smaller choirs. This is an excellent example of how using the French folk tune Une Jeune Pucelle, as well as her original tune, Jayne creates a lovely setting for the Advent and Christmas season. After a chant-like introduction, the piece comes alive with rhythm, repetition and intensity. This piece would work well for mixed choirs of all ages.
