Augsburg Fortress

Cherwien's three-part setting of this lively Welsh folk tune, THE ASH GROVE, includes an adagio, a trio and a brisk toccata. Included in the score is a hymn intonation and harmonization for congregational singing. The pieces are designed to serve as individual organ voluntaries, or the entire triptych may be played as an extended set. Commonly used texts associated with this tune include "Sent Forth by God's Blessing" and "Let All Things Now Living."
