Composer Commentary

Celtic is one of the new buzzwords in churches;  I wanted to do something with lots of open fifths and octaves in the accompaniment. By altering "Christ lag in Todesbanden" to include some triplet rhythms, I was able to get the lightness of sound I like for Easter Day. It was written for and dedicated to my choir, St. Andrew's Episcopal Church in Newport News, VA. Most church choirs should be able to easily handle this anthem. The piano part is fast but fits in easy hand positions, and the percussion was improvised originally by one person and can be done by one player.
