Composer Commentary

This setting was written a few years ago as part of a Palm Sunday choir program at my church titled “What Wondrous Love is This? Easter Songs of Early America.” Two other songs from that set have already been published by Augsburg Fortress, namely "What Wondrous Love Is This" and "Come, You Sinners, Poor and Needy." My choir enjoyed the simple melodies from The Sacred Harp hymnbook being given new life in settings with instrumental obbligatos.
