"I found ReNew very easy to follow and also quite adaptable to our children's needs. It brought in the largest amount of kids our church had ever seen at a Vacation Bible School and made a huge impact on our congregation.
I would recommend ReNew VBS to any congregation who feels like they want to make a difference not only for the children who attend but for the congregation as well. ReNew is a MUST-DO VBS.
The children adored ReNew and I felt proud that they got so involved and really started thinking about how to take care of God's creation. They left our nights of ReNew feeling full of energy and enthusiasm to share the things they learned with their families."
Hayley Cohen | First Presbyterian Church | Pitman, NJ
"We were looking for a curriculum that would get out kids using their hands in the garden local to the community where our church gathers ... This curriculum valued discovery, which is a high value for our congregation. ReNew offered legitimacy to the parents and volunteers of the program's goals and theme. The kids liked the variety of approaches to storytelling too. It was great!"
Troy Bronsink | Abbot of Neighbors Abbey PC(USA) | Atlanta, GA
"When I read the overview of the Parable of the Sower, I knew sparkhouse had it right-and I just fell in love! The timing for lessons was good and I liked the ease of using well-written curriculum.
ReNew created more interaction with our congregation that ever before. Members of all ages were bringing materials in to use for VBS and it was a great way for everyone to feel involved.
A huge highlight for the children and the teachers and the congregation was the "junk" sculpture. Our congregation contributed a real eclectic collection of junk that we used to make 4 separate sculptures. They are to be displayed in the Sunday School Art room for safe-keeping. People loved to find their stuff. It was a great group project that no one could take home, but gave the congregation incredible insight into the VBS program. It was a way that everyone could feel involved. The volunteers, the parents, the kids and the congregation all joined together to make it happen. What a huge success!
I would absolutely use ReNew again. Overall, we were so pleased!"
Dee Buchanan | First Congregation Church of Hudson (UCC) | Hudson, OH
"I serve on the CE team and we were very happy when our director brought this program to our attention and decided on it ... The crafts were all useful things instead of junk, which I liked very much. We're still growing the plants, in fact.
I loved that we didn't spend a lot of money on decor that was short-lived. Everything we used was either recycled or repurposed, mostly borrowed, and then went back to the owners. We even used an old door across some sawhorses for our registration desk."
Kathi Thomas | Central Presbyterian Church | Austin, TX
"Our congregation found the ReNew curriculum to be a refreshing change from some programs we have purchased in the past. The focus on earth-friendly activities, as well as a theology that focuses on a loving and growing image of God is very in-line with our UCC values and beliefs. There are many ideas for projects, games, and activities. Also, our kids had fun singing some 'oldies, but goodies' in the opening and closing sessions each day. We look forward to seeing what ReNew will offer next!"
Holly Bowen-Bailey | Peace United Church of Christ | Duluth, MN
"My role with VBS was in communications so my impressions have to do with the promotional materials and the appeal of the theme to the church as a whole (all positive). I know our Director of Children's Ministries loved it and can't wait to see what sparkhouse comes out with next."
Betty Curry | Travis Park United Methodist Church | San Antonio, TX
"I choose ReNew for many reasons, an important one being the eco focus. One of our church's ideals is ecology and stewardship of our earth.
My teachers liked the curriculum very much and thought there were great ideas there. I enjoyed the videos available and reading through the ideas for projects and decorating on Facebook.
Our kids seemed to have a blast at Renew VBS. I would credit our great teachers and youth with that as well as the curriculum."
Carol Kohrs | Travis Park United Methodist Church | San Antonio, TX
"Recently I had a new member volunteer to coordinate VBS. She did not want same old, same old, but something that would capture the kids and leaders imagination. She came back singing praises about this new group called "sparkhouse." They have great VBS materials this year called "ReNew" that are well planned, theologically strong, and great for God's gift of creation.
We are in the midst of a major construction/improvement project and had considered not doing VBS at our site this year (join with other local church). After looking at ReNew the team decided it was worth the logistic hassles to make it happen. Too good to pass up!
No lie. This is great stuff."
Pastor Bob Driver-Bishop |Lutheran Church of the Redeemer | McLean, VA
"We chose ReNew because of its subject matter. We are a congregation interested in teaching children about the care of creation. As pastor, I loved the fact that it stayed with one scripture text and allowed us to explore it in a number of ways.
The children were filled with smiles and laughter and enthusiasm every day. We used teenagers to direct games and science. Good Shepherd believes in all age groups being active in the life of the congregation so when the teenagers get to be leaders, it is a wonderful experience. It gives them an early start in witnessing to their faith."
